Orchestrate Healthcare is at the forefront of enabling scalable and value-added healthcare information exchange (HIE) via SynapticHealth (www.synaptichealth.com)

SynapticHealth is a common meeting point for the developers, publishers, and consumers of healthcare information services.   The users and vendors of healthcare information technology (HCIT) have profound challenges to build and manage application interfaces, transaction processing protocols, robust data governance capabilities, and “many-to-many” information exchange.  Interoperability remains expensive and less-than-optimal, but Orchestrate Healthcare is expert in leveraging legacy systems and migrating to updated technology that will help address some of these HIE challenges.
Orchestrate Healthcare is utilizing SynapticHealth’s directory and registry to promote scalable and value-added HIE infrastructure and services including:

• Legacy system interfaces and transaction formats:  As Orchestrate helps clients build systems interfaces, route data, and connect trading partners, we will leverage SynapticHealth to promote the exchange of interfaces and other components of interoperability that should not continue to cost tens of thousands of dollars to build and maintain.
• Web services and Integration-as-a-Service (IaaS):  Orchestrate is expert in helping clients upgrade their healthcare systems integration and trading partner management capabilities, and moving towards better HIE solutions, including web services and Integration-as-a-Service.
• Publishing and consuming healthcare web services:  Once a more robust trading partner management platform is in place, Orchestrate can help clients consume and publish a much broader range of healthcare information services, for example:

o Provider relations portal services (e.g. pre-registration forms)
o E-Prescribing
o Lab connectivity
o Financial transactions (e.g. ANSI 4010 835 interfaces from bank trading partners)
o Continuity of care records (CCR)
o Electronic medical record (EMR) and personal health record (PHR) data exchange

Orchestrate Healthcare is partnering with SynapticHealth to drive interoperability and provide a solution to these HIE challenges.  Specifically, Orchestrate Healthcare’s goals with our SynapticHealth relationship include:

• Commoditize the development of systems interfaces and transaction processing connectivity (fundamental building blocks of interoperability) in favor of value-added HIE services like improved data quality and better data processing;
• Promote the use of scalable technologies that developers, vendors, and consumers can leverage in the form of healthcare information services “mash-ups” (combined services, including interfaces, transaction protocols, data governance, and site-specific requirements are often what is required but not always what is offered); and,
• Providing the market with a disciplined approach to healthcare information exchange, a place to exchange the underlying information services of HIE, and a means to create “certified services” that meet market requirements.
